I think I am banned but I am not sure what my offense was.
I have been logging in to TSO using the userid ARKDUNE.
Anyway, I have been using the network services from our local library and recall being disconnected from my wc3270 sessions. I attempted "RECONNECT" and was successful some of the time. (Could this be the cause for banning?)
I've not been able to even get to the Dezhi mainframe. My wc3270 cannot even make a connection. The librarian here is not knowing of computers much and I cannot get an answer...
So, I am writing to see if I am banned from Dezhi by having my IP refused connections.
Many thank for any info that you can shed on this.
Duncan, the friar

To the best of my knowledge ARKDUNE has not been banned. The problem you're describing seems more like a network issue at your end. I just logged off, executed the patch Tuesday exercise / work station boot, and logged back on to Fandezhi, so I don't think there is an issue at the Fandezhi end.

Hello there,
Negative on the screen.
My wc3270 session fails on the "connect" command; it times out saying it is unable to connect.
I'll look more on my end and try to resolve the issue. I am in a small town of 800 pop. and our connections to the network are not reliable and not a real priority with the providers given our rural setting. Plus other issues... Sigh.
In any event, thanks for your input. That certainly helps in focusing my efforts on resolving the issue.
Cheers,
FriarDuncan

Greetings again,
I was wondering if you could cite the IP address of the mainframe. The librarian here is not a computer expert, per se, and is not very helpful.
My plan is to try to connect to the mainframe using the IP Address and (2) to approach the service provider for the library to see if they've done something to block access to your z/OS.
With thanks in advance.

Use the URL. The actual IP address changes from time to time; the URL follows the IP address change. I've been using the URL exclusively for almost 4 years now, using two different ISPs. I recall some one on this forum tried to use the IP address, I don't remember the reason, and got screwed when it changed. Also check if the port number specified in WC3270 changed. Fandezhi uses the standard Telnet port number, 23, and that hasn't changed. I'll PM the URL to you. There seems to be a policy to not show the URL in this public forum.
